ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of meridian exercises on blood glucose and clinical symptoms of community elderly type 2 diabetic patients. Methods Sixty elderly patients with type 2diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were selected from two communities from February to September in 2012.Thirty participants from one community received meridian excise-based group sport management (experiment group),the other 30 subjects from another community got meridian excise-based individual sport management (control group). Before and after the intervention, blood glucose and self-report symptoms were assessed. Results At baseline and after the intervention, there was statistically significant difference of postprandial blood glucose and self-symptom score between the two groups (t values were-5.954,-2.900,-4.214 and-3.798,respectively; all P<0.05).After the intervention, experiment group showed statistically significant difference in self-assessment of symptom score from the control group (t=-5.484,P<0.05).Conclusion Meridian exercises can efficiently improve diabetic patients' postprandial blood glucose and clinical symptons.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the management mode for mother and child care service among floating population. Methods Nursing process was applied for assessment, diagnosis, plan, implementation and evaluation of management mode for mother and child care service among floating population in Shiqiao street, Xiacheng district, Hangzhou city. Results Compared with those three years before implementing the nursing process, themanagement of mother and child care was enhanced, for example, the record rate of pregnant woman increased by 208.82% and the systematic management rate increased by 32.70%, the record rate of child care increased by 931.73%, the systematic management rate of child care increased by 31.85%. Conclusions If used properly, nursing process can help to promote the management of mother and child care among floating population greatly.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the inhibition effects of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) on cytokine expression of cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Methods The cultured human corneal fibroblasts were used in the present experiment. Cell viability insensitive to emodin on cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro was assessed using the MTT assay.Cells were randomly divided into three groups:control group(group 0 hour,n=6),lipopolysaccharidel (LPS)group (n=24)and emodin pretreatment group(n=24). Cells of the emodin pretreatment group were incubated with emodin for 30 minutes before LPS challenged. The cultured human corneal fibroblasts were then challenged with LPS, the expression of interleukin-8(IL-8) mRNAs was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis (RT-PCR) and the proteins of IL-8 secreted from these cells were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Western blotting analysis was used for detecting the protein expression of inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB-α(IκB-α)induced by LPS.At the same time, the effects of emodin on these expressions were also assessed in fibroblasts. Results The concentration of emodin used in this study was safe to these cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Both the protein release and mRNA expression of IL-8 in corneal fibroblasts increased significantly after challenged with LPS, however, the protein level of IκB-α significantly decreased after treated with LPS. These results indicated that LPS could mediate the activation of NF-κB and upregulate the expression of cytokines in corneal fibroblasts. Pretreated with emodin 30 min before challenged with LPS, the activation of NF-κB induced by LPS was markedly inhibited, and the mRNA expression as well as protein release of IL-8 were also inhibited(P<0.01).Conclusion These results suggest that LPS takes part in the degeneration of IκB-α and the expression of IL-8 in cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Emodin, an active component from the rhizome of Rheum palmatum, can inhibit the activation of NF-κB via decreasing this degeneration, which results in suppressing LPS-induced cytokine release from cultured human corneal fibroblasts.

ABSTRACT

With the gradual standardization in the medical management of family beds, widespread attention has been given to the establishment of complete medical records for patients using family beds. To achieve genuine standardization, a set of new nursing records for family beds were designed in light of the features of family nursing. This set of records attaches importance to the assessment of the patients' daily life skills, family resources, and living environment. It is easy to use and gives expression to the independent and scientific nature of community nursing. The designed protocol for family nursing plays some role in safeguarding the interests of both physicians and patients.
